Renzo Vespignani | First example

A 1954 work tells the drama and cruelty of war.

On Friday, April 24th, as part of the RAW FOR PEACE event, the Edarcom Europa gallery will exhibit "Primo esempio," a small ink-painted cartoon presented by Renzo Vespignani on the occasion of his participation in the 27th Venice Biennale in 1954.

The work depicts a dramatic death scene. Two lifeless figures with their hands tied lie before a wall bearing the words "Primo esempio." It is a cruel account of the horrors of war, a shooting perpetrated by the Nazis to quell any immediate protests.

The grandeur of art once again transcends its own time, serving as a daily testimony and a contemporary denunciation of human aberrations.
