A Prophecy of Light (2019)

A 4-meter monumental installation created in 2019. A prophetic weaving of Georgian, Ukrainian, and Russian poetry singing of love for the homeland. A powerful manifesto of unity and hope for RAW for Peace at Hotel Monte Cenci.

At Hotel Monte Cenci, artist Sofo Berd presents a 4-meter monumental calligraphic installation. The work is a tapestry of words merging the lyrics of three female poets from Russia_Rimma Kazakova , Georgia_Anna Kalandadze and Ukraine_Lina Kostenko , all united by a visceral love for their homeland.

What makes this work extraordinary is its prophetic nature: created in 2019, well before the current conflict, it emerges today as a "time capsule." Through a play of transparencies recalling the "fibers" and "jellyfish" central to the artist's imagery, the Russian, Georgian, and Ukrainian languages do not overlap with violence but harmonize in a visual prayer. An invitation to seek that LIGHT that art has the duty to witness beyond all borders.
